Postdoc positions

The Eötvös International Research School in Astrophysics (EIRSA) in Budapest, Hungary, seeks candidates for a postdoctoral fellowship in astrophysics and cosmology. Candidates with a demonstrated research record in early galaxy formation and cosmology, astrophysical statistics, or gravitational waves will be given preference. However, the primary selection criterion will be the candidate's potential to produce high-quality research, and strong applicants with interests in other fields in astrophysics and cosmology will be considered. EIRSA is based at Roland Eötvös University (ELTE) in Budapest. The Fellow will be expected to carry out her/his own independent research, and will be encouraged to interact with Zsolt Frei (in Budapest), and other EIRSA faculty, including Zoltán Haiman (Columbia University, New York), and István Szapudi (Institute for Astronomy, University of Hawaii). In addition, the Fellow will have the opportunity to interact with PhD students at ELTE and independently direct their research. The Fellow will be expected to reside in Budapest, with a negotiable fraction of time spent at the home institutions of other EIRSA faculty. Applications, including a CV, a 3-page research proposal, and 3 letters of reference, should be sent to Zsolt Frei by email at frei@alcyone.elte.hu. Salaries are similar to those available to EU Marie Curie fellows residing in Hungary.
